UB Hackathon is an intercollegiate hackathon hosted at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT. We will be having students from the University of Bridgeport and other universities & colleges to come hack on innovative projects – web hacks, mobile hacks, hardware hacks, you name it. Students will create their own projects from start to finish in a collaborative atmosphere to learn and compete for prizes. This hackathon is open to students only. So please make sure to bring your college ID that has your photo on it.
Unfortunately, we can’t allow you to participate in the event or be on site during hacking. If you’re looking to mentor (i.e. someone with technical skills who’d be willing to help out participants during the weekend), you should reach out to us at entrepreneurship@bridgeport.edu.
The event is free. We’ll provide you with a weekend’s worth of meals, drinks, and snacks and a place to crash when you need a break from coding. In fact, you’ll probably walk away loaded with all the swag that you’ll get at UB Hackathon and of course, an unforgettable experience.
We’ve set up a few spaces at the venue for you to bring sleeping bags, comforters and other things to prep you for this event.
That’s normal. Most people don’t have an idea before they get to the event. But once you start talking to other people, you might come up with something. You can also work with somebody else on their idea if you like it. And there will be prizes at the event which might help give you some ideas. Don’t worry about it, you’ll find something to work on.
You’ll need: Your college photo ID, a laptop and charger. Everything else is optional. However, we strongly encourage you to bring a sleeping bag, pillows, toiletries, and a couple of changes of clothes.
You won’t need: An idea, or a team. You can create your own team (teams of 4 recommended) during the hackathon, and generate some amazing creations along the way. You also don’t need to worry about food, we’ve got you covered.
Yes, we will have you covered on eating for these 2 days, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and plenty of snacks!
It’s not about winning-it’s about exploring your passion while making great friends. But if you’re a fan of winning, we’ve got you covered. We’ve got some great prizes in stock (will be announced soon). A panel of professional judges will select the best hacks based on the following criteria: creativity, functionality, level of technical difficulty and quality. Most sponsors like to offer their own prizes as well for specific categories which are evaluated themselves.
